15 Billion Dollar Altcoin Starts Preparations for Decentralized Ecosystem

Cardano (ADA), one of the largest altcoins, aims to establish a fully decentralized ecosystem soon. Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson announced that they have reached the final stage of the process that has been worked on for years.

The final phase of the Voltaire era on Cardano's roadmap will begin at the end of this month and Cardano Node will move to version 9.0. Stake pool operators in the system will migrate to the latest version and then the Voltaire era will begin with a hard fork. Once this transition is complete, the Cardano blockchain will no longer be managed by IOHK, but entirely by community members.

Charles Hoskinson stated that “Cardano Node will reach 9.0 in June, so Cardano will be ready for the Chang fork.” He also added that “there could be a hard fork that would take Cardano into the Voltaire Era.” Hoskinson emphasized that Cardano will have the most advanced blockchain governance system, annual budget and treasury, and will be guided by the wisdom of the community.

In the first phase of Voltaire, CIP 1694 will be introduced and Cardano (ADA) holders will be able to vote on issues that contribute to Cardano's development.
