Ethereum’s Fusaka Upgrade Goes Live on Mainnet December 3!

Ethereum developers have officially set December 3 as the launch date for the network’s next major upgrade, “Fusaka.”

Researchers from the Ethereum Foundation confirmed during Thursday’s All Core Devs meeting that the long-tested Fusaka upgrade will go live on mainnet on December 3, 2025, cementing a timeline developers had been targeting since mid-September.

According to CoinDesk, Fusaka successfully went live on the Hoodi testnet earlier this week — the final step before mainnet activation — following smooth deployments on Holesky and Sepolia. The upgrade aims to significantly enhance scalability, security, and sustainability across the Ethereum ecosystem.

One of Fusaka’s standout features is Peer Data Availability Sampling (PeerDAS), a new technique that enables validators to access block data faster and more efficiently. PeerDAS was originally scheduled for the Pectra upgrade in February but was postponed for further testing.

The update will also increase the block gas limit from 30 million to 150 million, drastically boosting network throughput. This expansion will double blob storage capacity, improving the performance of Layer 2 solutions. Ahead of the activation, the Ethereum Foundation launched a $2 million security audit contest to identify potential vulnerabilities.

Fusaka is viewed as one of Ethereum’s most ambitious and performance-focused upgrades, marking a pivotal step in the network’s long-term scalability roadmap.
