Metaplanet Increases Bitcoin Accumulation: Target 21,000 BTC

Japan-based investment firm Metaplanet continues its Bitcoin accumulation strategy without slowing down. On Wednesday, the company announced the purchase of 162 BTC, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 3,050. CEO Simon Gerovich shared the acquisition on social media, revealing that Metaplanet paid an average of 83,123 dollars per Bitcoin, spending approximately 13.5 million dollars.

The market value of the company’s Bitcoin holdings is around 249.4 million dollars, while the total purchase cost stands at approximately 253.7 million dollars. Metaplanet first announced its Bitcoin accumulation strategy in April 2024 and reinforced its commitment to cryptocurrencies in December by making Bitcoin asset management one of its core business operations.

Metaplanet aims to reach 10,000 BTC by the end of the year and increase its total Bitcoin holdings to 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026. The company has already accumulated 1,300 BTC in 2024 alone and recently expanded its crypto investments by acquiring an additional 497 BTC last week.

Metaplanet’s aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy strengthens its long-term objectives while demonstrating its close monitoring of movements in the crypto market.
