A First in the U.S.: Solana-Focused ETF Begins Trading on the NYSE

The first-ever Solana (SOL)-focused exchange-traded fund (ETF) in the U.S. is launching, marking a major step toward broader institutional access to Solana.

Asset management giant Bitwise is set to launch its Bitwise Solana Staking ETF (BSOL) on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Tuesday, October 29. This marks the debut of the first U.S.-listed ETF providing direct exposure to Solana while offering staking rewards.

Bitwise’s CEO highlighted that the fund is “the first ETF to provide 100% spot exposure to Solana,” emphasizing its role in bringing Solana into the mainstream for institutional investors. Kristin Smith, head of the Solana Policy Institute, added that the launch demonstrates how “Solana is being recognized as a foundational element of the future digital economy.”

Despite the ongoing U.S. government shutdown that left much of the SEC staff on furlough, NYSE and Nasdaq unexpectedly approved listings for four new spot crypto ETFs, including Bitwise’s Solana ETF, a Litecoin ETF, an HBAR ETF, and another Solana-based fund. Analysts see this as the beginning of a new era in crypto investment products, following the success of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs.
