US President Donald Trump announced that a report on the ownership of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency assets will be released on April 5, in line with his recent directive.
In this report, the US Treasury Department and other federal agencies will provide clear information on whether digital assets, especially names such as Ripple (XRP), Solana (SOL) and Cardano (ADA), will be included in the national digital asset reserves in line with Trump's decisions. In addition, the Treasury Department will implement the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and Digital Asset Stockpiling Plan, establishing two offices to manage the government's digital assets.
In line with Trump's earlier decree, all federal agencies will report their ownership of Bitcoin and other digital assets to the Treasury Department within 30 days. The Strategic Bitcoin Reserve will hold Bitcoins obtained through criminal and civil forfeiture and will aim to store long-term value without selling these assets. Currently, the US government holds approximately 198,012 Bitcoins, valued at around $16 billion. Half of the approximately 400,000 Bitcoins acquired in the past have been sold, generating $366 million in revenue. If these Bitcoins had not been sold, the government's digital assets would now be worth more than $17 billion.
