Countdown Begins for Altcoin ETFs: Approvals May Start in July

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is expected to begin approving several spot altcoin ETF applications, including those for SOL, XRP, DOGE, ADA, and AVAX, starting in early July.

According to Bloomberg analysts Eric Balchunas and James Seyffart, the likelihood of approval for these applications exceeds 75%. Notably, ETFs that bundle multiple crypto assets into a single basket are estimated to have a 90% chance of being approved. The first major decision is anticipated on July 2, when SEC is set to respond to applications from major firms such as Grayscale, Bitwise, and Franklin Templeton.

Analysts attribute this shift in the SEC’s stance to the crypto-friendly approach of the current administration. One key factor is President Donald Trump’s appointment of Paul Atkins as SEC Chairman, who recently criticized the current regulatory framework for stifling innovation.

Other applications, including those for SUI, Trump Coin, and Melania Coin, have yet to enter the official review phase but are gaining attention. Approval of these ETFs could lead to significant institutional capital flowing into the crypto market, potentially triggering a new wave of growth across the sector.
