One of the leading layer-1 blockchain projects, Aptos (APT), announced a major upgrade focused on transaction security and user privacy. According to information shared by Aptos Labs, the network will implement an “Encrypted Mempool” system that keeps transaction details hidden until block ordering is finalized. The move is aimed at preventing malicious actors from exploiting pending transactions for unfair advantages.
Once approved through governance, the feature is expected to make Aptos one of the first major blockchain networks to offer a built-in encrypted transaction pool. Transaction data will only be decrypted shortly before execution, significantly reducing frontrunning risks that are commonly seen in decentralized finance (DeFi) markets.
The Aptos development team stated that the system’s threshold encryption design will not negatively impact network speed or latency. In addition to frontrunning protection, the new mechanism is also designed to mitigate censorship attempts and transaction flow leaks. Completed transactions will still remain publicly verifiable on-chain, while sensitive information before execution stays protected. The update is expected to provide a fairer and more secure trading environment for both retail and institutional users.
