According to CoinATMRadar data, the number of Bitcoin ATMs reached an all-time high of 38,776 in August 2022. This number dropped to 37,980 in September, with 796 Bitcoin ATMs withdrawing from the global network.
In the US recorded a decrease of 825 Bitcoin ATM losses in September alone, while Bitcoin ATMs installed in other parts of the world decreased the decline somewhat.
On the other hand, although Bitcoin ATMs began operating in Japan's capital Tokyo as early as 2014, there have been no active digital asset ATMs in the country since the crypto winter of 2018. Bitcoin ATMs are back in Japan after a four-year gap.
From Bitcoin ATMs, users will be allowed to withdraw a maximum of 747 USD or 100,000 Japanese Yen per transaction and a maximum of 2,243 USD or 300,000 Yen per day.
Limited withdrawals are part of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance measures.
