Why is Bitcoin (BTC) down today? (May 8, 2023)

Bitcoin is down 2.92% in the last 24 hours. Today, a crypto asset platform halted Bitcoin (BTC) withdrawals for the second time, reportedly due to the large volume of pending transactions. The crypto asset platform also suspended BTC withdrawals yesterday and resumed them after about an hour and a half. According to CryptoQuant, approximately 188,281 Bitcoins were withdrawn on the same exchange platform on Sunday alone, which is the largest daily volume in CryptoQuant's records, which tracks data starting in May 2020. This development may have been instrumental in Bitcoin's decline. However, since most of these BTC transfers appear to be internal transfers to newly created addresses on this crypto asset platform, there seems to be nothing to worry about.
