A 1-in-28,000 Chance Comes True: Solo Bitcoin Miner Earns $210K

In a network typically dominated by large mining companies, a solo miner operating with modest hardware achieved a remarkable success. Using CKpool, the miner solved block 943,411 alone and claimed the full reward. Such events are considered rare “lottery-like” wins in the mining ecosystem.

The miner earned a total of 3.139 BTC, including the 3.125 BTC block reward and transaction fees. At current prices, this amounts to roughly $210,000. With around 230 terahash of hash power, the miner represents only a tiny fraction of Bitcoin’s total network capacity. Experts estimate the probability of finding a block at this level is about 1 in 28,000 on any given day.

This development highlights that solo mining is still possible, even as large firms dominate the industry. Despite rising network difficulty, such cases reinforce Bitcoin’s decentralized nature and show that individual participants can still achieve meaningful success.
