CFTC chair calls Ethereum a commodity, in contrast to SEC chair Gensler’s position

US Commodities and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Rostin Behnam has described Ethereum as a commodity, not a security, in contrast to US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Gary Gensler, who has consistently argued that every cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin falls under securities laws. Speaking to the Senate Agriculture Committee, Behnam reminded that Ethereum has been listed on CFTC exchanges for some time, saying, "If we did not feel strongly that the Ether futures product is a commodity asset, we would not have allowed it to be listed on the CFTC exchange."
