The European Central Bank (ECB) has raised concerns that US President Donald Trump's support for cryptocurrencies could pose significant risks to the European economy.
The ECB specifically pointed out that USD-backed stablecoins from the US could threaten the Eurozone's monetary sovereignty, calling for changes to the MiCA (Markets in Crypto Assets) rules.
The ECB argued that this could negatively affect financial stability in Europe, stressing the need for regulations to adapt to these new risks. However, the European Commission defended the current MiCA regulations, stating that adequate measures have been taken for stablecoin management and no changes are necessary at this time.
