As the approval process for spot crypto ETFs accelerates, Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas declared that the odds are now “essentially 100%."
Balchunas emphasized that the SEC’s new generic listing standards have transformed the process. He explained that the once-crucial 19b-4 filings are no longer relevant, leaving only the S-1 forms awaiting clearance from the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance — a step that could be finalized soon.
The spotlight is particularly on the Solana ETF, which has now been amended for the fourth time. According to Balchunas, this update suggests approval could arrive “any day now,” fueling stronger market expectations and drawing investors’ attention more closely to the developments.
Addressing claims that ETFs suppress prices, Balchunas dismissed the criticism. He highlighted that since Bitcoin ETFs launched, prices have surged nearly 340%, remarking, “If you see a +350% rally as suppression, you have a serious perspective problem.” The prevailing sentiment is that with the SEC’s latest regulatory changes, approvals for multiple spot crypto ETFs — led by Solana — may be imminent, potentially injecting fresh momentum into the crypto markets.
