Ethereum Treasury Companies Surpass ETFs: The New Favorite Investment Vehicle!

Ethereum treasury firms are now offering greater returns than US spot ETFs thanks to staking and DeFi advantages.

Ethereum treasury firms have become a more attractive investment vehicle than US spot ETFs, according to a recent report from Standard Chartered. Geoffrey Kendrick, head of digital asset research at the bank, stated that these firms have collectively acquired 1.6% of the circulating ETH supply — matching the level held by spot ETFs. He emphasized that these companies offer investors additional value through staking and decentralized finance (DeFi) yields.

While spot ETH ETFs in the US are restricted from engaging in staking and DeFi activities due to regulatory limitations, treasury firms are able to freely access these opportunities. Kendrick highlighted that leading firms like SharpLink Gaming have maintained a net asset value (NAV) ratio above 1, signaling strength and investor confidence. Upcoming transparency-focused reports are expected to enhance this trust further.

The report also notes that Ethereum treasury firms are not only rivaling spot ETFs but are also accelerating the institutional investment trend originally seen with Bitcoin. Companies like BitMine are aiming to acquire up to 5% of total ETH supply and currently offer additional returns of roughly 3% through staking and DeFi.
