Fidelity Expands Solana Trading Access Across All Crypto Platforms

U.S. financial giant Fidelity Digital Assets has expanded Solana (SOL) trading to all its crypto platforms, opening access to both retail and institutional investors.

Fidelity announced that users of Fidelity Crypto for retail investors, IRAs, wealth managers, and institutional clients can now buy and sell Solana. The firm’s crypto app, launched quietly in March 2023, initially offered Bitcoin and Ethereum trading, later adding Litecoin. While trades are commission-free, a spread of up to 1% applies per transaction.

As one of the earliest traditional finance institutions to enter the crypto sector, Fidelity has a long history with digital assets, including early Bitcoin mining operations and research publications. In 2024, it launched one of the first spot Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S., followed by an Ethereum ETF that July. The two funds now manage roughly $25 billion in assets combined.

A Fidelity spokesperson said the addition of Solana “reflects our decade-long commitment to building infrastructure and educational resources for digital assets similar to traditional markets.” Recent moves by BlackRock’s BUIDL fund, VanEck’s Solana ETF filing, and now Fidelity’s inclusion signal growing institutional recognition of the Solana network.
