Florida Delays Bills Allowing Bitcoin Investments for Public Funds

Florida has delayed the progress of two bills that would have allowed public funds to invest in Bitcoin.

On May 3, the Florida State House postponed House Bill 487 and Senate Bill 550 indefinitely, effectively removing them from the agenda. Both bills, introduced in February, aimed to allow state funds to invest in Bitcoin, but the Florida State House closed its 2025 session without passing these bills on May 2.

This delay suggests that Florida is stepping back from its efforts to legalize cryptocurrency investments at the state level. Meanwhile, other states like Arizona and New Hampshire have made more significant progress with similar bills. Arizona's Governor Katie Hobbs, however, recently vetoed a bill allowing state funds to invest up to 10% in Bitcoin.
