German telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom is preparing to enter Bitcoin (BTC) mining. Speaking at the BTC Prague event on Friday, June 14, Dirk Röder, President of Deutsche Telekom's subsidiary T-Systems MMS, announced that the company will soon start mining Bitcoin.
"We have been running a Bitcoin node since 2023 and we also run Bitcoin Lightning nodes. I want to let you in on a little secret: digital currency photosynthesis is coming soon," Röder said. To Bitcoin phenomenon Joe Nakamoto's question, "Will T-Mobile mine Bitcoin?", he answered "yes, we will".
Deutsche Telekom already operates nodes for Bitcoin, Bitcoin Lightning, Ethereum and various networks. The company also has similar node operating and investment partnerships with Polkadot (DOT), Flow (FLOW) and Celo (CELO).
