Grayscale has filed for a spot ETF tied to Chainlink (LINK), signaling growing institutional interest in altcoins.
Grayscale, a leading name in crypto investment products, has submitted an S-1 filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) based on Chainlink (LINK). This move highlights the company’s strategy of expanding beyond Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), targeting institutional demand for altcoins.
According to the filing, the proposed Chainlink ETF would directly track the spot price of LINK, giving investors indirect exposure to the asset. Grayscale is already recognized as one of the most preferred firms among institutional investors thanks to its trust products, and approval of the Chainlink ETF could open the door to broader institutional access not just for LINK but also for altcoins in general.
The SEC’s recent flexibility in approving spot ETFs has fueled institutional appetite for crypto. Following the approvals of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, applications for products tied to altcoins like Chainlink are being viewed as a sign of market maturity. If approved, the Chainlink ETF could strengthen the project’s position in DeFi and enterprise use cases, while potentially creating long-term positive momentum for LINK’s price.
