Grayscale Expands with ETF Filings for Three Altcoins

Crypto asset manager Grayscale has filed applications with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tied to Bitcoin Cash, Hedera, and Litecoin.

Building on its earlier approvals for Bitcoin and Ethereum products, Grayscale is now targeting the altcoin ETF market. According to filings, the firm submitted an S-1 for Hedera and S-3 forms for Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin, with the aim of converting existing closed-end funds into ETFs listed on major exchanges like Nasdaq or NYSE Arca. The applications remain pending and subject to SEC review.

The move comes amid a wave of altcoin ETF applications, including Dogecoin and Ripple products. SEC delays on both Grayscale’s Hedera ETF and Bitwise’s Dogecoin ETF have heightened uncertainty, though Bitcoin Cash’s $202 million trust highlights strong investor demand.

Grayscale previously played a key role in securing approval for Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs through legal action. Since their launch in January 2024, spot Bitcoin ETFs have generated more than $1.2 trillion in trading volume. The company’s latest filings suggest altcoin ETFs could follow a similar growth trajectory.
