Japan-based tech firm Metaplanet continues to expand its corporate Bitcoin investment strategy.
In its latest announcement, the company revealed it had purchased 1,088 BTC for approximately $117.5 million, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 8,888 BTC. With an average purchase price of $108,072 per BTC, Metaplanet’s Bitcoin portfolio is now valued at around $930 million.
Since adopting a corporate treasury policy in April 2024, Metaplanet has acquired 7,126 BTC this year alone, steadily approaching its 2025 target of 10,000 BTC. The company recently issued $50 million in zero-interest bonds to fund further Bitcoin purchases without diluting its shares.
CEO Simon Gerovich noted that the firm draws inspiration from MicroStrategy and its executive Michael Saylor, and added that Metaplanet’s share price has increased nearly 20x over the past year thanks to this strategy.
