Japan’s Metaplanet has raised its Bitcoin investment to $1.94 billion after purchasing 775 more BTC.
News Text (English): Metaplanet, one of Japan’s leading firms, continues to aggressively expand its Bitcoin reserves. With its latest purchase, the company now holds a total of 18,888 BTC, making it the seventh-largest corporate Bitcoin holder worldwide.
Company president Simon Gerovich announced that the 775 BTC were acquired at an average price of $120,006, bringing the firm’s total Bitcoin investment to $1.94 billion with an average cost basis of $102,653. In its recently released Q2 report, Metaplanet revealed revenues of 1.2 billion yen ($8.4 million), marking a 41% quarterly growth, while turning a 5 billion yen loss into an 11.1 billion yen ($75.1 million) profit.
Despite an 8.6% drop in its share price last week, closing at 866 yen, the company emphasized its commitment to its long-term Bitcoin strategy. Gerovich stated, “Our Bitcoin revenue model has been growing for three consecutive quarters, giving us resilience to continue expanding our holdings.”
The latest acquisition coincided with Bitcoin’s pullback, as the asset fell 2.35% in 24 hours to $115,276. This move highlights Metaplanet’s approach of turning market corrections into strategic opportunities.
