Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has secured a place among the world's top five corporate Bitcoin (BTC) investors with a massive purchase worth approximately $238.7 million.
As publicly traded companies worldwide continue to aggressively accumulate Bitcoin, Japan-based Metaplanet has made one of the most significant moves recently. According to CEO Simon Gerovich, Metaplanet acquired an additional 2,205 BTC at an average price of $108,237, raising its total Bitcoin reserves to 15,555 BTC, and placing it fifth among the world's largest publicly listed BTC holders.
Metaplanet's Bitcoin-focused investment strategy has rapidly proven profitable. In Q2 2025, the company generated roughly $7.6 million in revenue from Bitcoin investments, a 42.4% increase compared to the same period last year. CEO Gerovich described their approach as sustainable and growth-oriented, reaffirming the goal to reach 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027.
Despite shares climbing about 339% year-to-date, the company's stock price experienced a slight drop of 1.8% in Japanese markets following the latest Bitcoin purchase.
