K-Pop Media Company K Wave Media Makes \$500M Bitcoin Move

Nasdaq-listed K Wave Media (KWM) has announced plans to purchase Bitcoin (BTC) using proceeds from a $500 million equity offering as part of its long-term treasury strategy. Founded in 2023 and based in the Cayman Islands, the company is one of the first publicly traded media firms in the K-Pop sector to adopt Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset. A significant portion of the funds raised will go toward long-term BTC accumulation and yield optimization.

K Wave Media executives cited inspiration from Japan-based Metaplanet, which has gained attention for its Bitcoin and Ethereum investments. Interim Co-CEO Ted Kim stated that integrating Bitcoin into their core strategy reinforces the company’s commitment to decentralization, agility, and forward-looking value creation. Following the announcement, K Wave Media’s stock surged 132.39%, signaling strong interest, particularly from Asia-based investors.
