Kazakhstan to Build Crypto Reserve and “CryptoCity” for Digital Future

Kazakh President Tokayev announced plans to establish a national digital asset reserve and build a fully digitalized city in Alatau.

Kazakhstan is preparing to take bold steps in the crypto ecosystem. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his annual address to the nation, announced that the country will both establish a digital asset reserve and launch projects enabling everyday use of cryptocurrencies.

According to Tokayev, the “National Digital Asset Fund” will operate under the National Bank’s Investment Corporation. The fund will create a strategic reserve of promising crypto assets, while the country’s financial regulator has been instructed to draft a comprehensive digital asset law by 2026. With this, Kazakhstan aims to integrate crypto not only into mining and energy but also into investment and daily economic activities.

Another highlight of the speech was the announcement of “CryptoCity” in the Alatau region. This initiative aims to build the first fully digitalized city in Central Asia, where citizens will be able to make everyday purchases with cryptocurrencies. The project reflects Kazakhstan’s vision to become a regional hub for digital finance and blockchain.

Experts suggest that Kazakhstan’s digital asset fund and CryptoCity project could mark a turning point for crypto adoption in the region. The country is now positioning itself not only as an energy powerhouse but also as a pioneer in innovative financial strategies.
