Major Funds’ Staking Move Could Speed Up Spot Solana ETF Approval

Staking details in spot Solana ETF filings signal that approval may be just weeks away.

Spot Solana ETF applications have once again come into focus after major asset managers updated their filings with the SEC. Fidelity, Franklin Templeton, CoinShares, Bitwise, Grayscale, Canary Capital, and VanEck included staking details in their latest submissions, showing that the funds may offer not only price exposure but also staking yields to investors.

Fidelity stated it plans to stake some or all of its Solana holdings, while Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart called the updates a sign of “constructive dialogue” with the SEC, adding that approval could come within weeks. NovaDius Wealth President Nate Geraci noted that this development could also pave the way for Ethereum ETFs with staking features.

Meanwhile, indirect exposure to Solana already exists through other funds. Hashdex recently added Stellar, XRP, and Solana to its Nasdaq Crypto Index US ETF, while REX-Osprey’s staking Solana fund surpassed $300 million in assets. With the SEC recently approving fast-track listing procedures for crypto ETFs, the path for Solana ETF approval looks smoother than ever.
