Meta has reignited its interest in cryptocurrency projects and is now working on integrating stablecoins.
According to Fortune, the company is particularly looking to reduce the cost of payments made on Instagram and is considering using stablecoins to achieve this goal. However, it remains unclear which stablecoin they will focus on. To strengthen its efforts in this area, Meta has hired former Ripple executive Ginger Baker as Vice President of Product and has begun forming collaborations with crypto infrastructure firms.
This renewed interest in stablecoin integration comes at a time when regulatory bodies in the US, following President Trump’s tenure, have adopted a more favorable approach toward cryptocurrencies.
Meta’s move aims to lower costs in cross-border payments while navigating an increasingly competitive environment in the stablecoin space.
