Metaplanet Adds 136 More Bitcoin, Pushing Holdings Above 20,000

Japanese investment giant Metaplanet has pushed its Bitcoin holdings above 20,000 despite volatile stock performance.

CEO Simon Gerovich announced on X that the company purchased 136 BTC worth around $15.2 million at an average price of $111,666 per coin. With this latest acquisition, Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin holdings reached 20,136 BTC, acquired at an average cost of $103,196, totaling approximately $2.08 billion.

According to BitcoinTreasuries data, Metaplanet is now the sixth-largest public company holding Bitcoin. At the top of the list is Michael Saylor’s firm with 636,505 BTC, followed by Marathon Digital, XXI, Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company, and Bullish. This highlights Metaplanet’s aggressive approach to building its reserves.

Despite a 30% decline in its stock over the past month, the company’s shares are still up 101% year-to-date. On Monday, shares in Japan slipped 1.2%, while U.S.-traded shares closed down 1.6%. Nevertheless, Metaplanet’s continued Bitcoin accumulation underlines its strong long-term confidence in the crypto market.
