Japanese banking giant Nomura's crypto subsidiary, Laser Digital, has received approval from the Dubai Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA) for a Virtual Assets Service Providers (VASP) license. On August 1st, Laser Digital announced that the VASP license would allow it to offer brokerage, virtual asset management, and investment services in the emirate.
Additionally, Laser Digital is preparing to offer over-the-counter crypto trading services and investment products for institutional investors in the coming months, along with trading and asset management operations. Laser Digital's CEO, Jez Mohideen, stated in his announcement:
"We are very grateful to the Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA) for approving our business license. VARA's comprehensive and consultative process provides institutional investors with the confidence they need to participate in this asset class. With the acquisition of the license, we eagerly look forward to Laser's growth in the coming years."
Last June, Laser Digital had announced its acquisition of Elysium Technology Group, a commercial solutions company, to provide post-trade services to institutional crypto investors.
