Sławomir Mentzen, a candidate for Poland's presidency, announced that the country will create a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve if he wins the election. In his post on social media, Mentzen promised to make Poland a “crypto paradise” with crypto-friendly regulations, low taxes and supportive policies. While this statement was supported by crypto advocates, Mentzen emphasized that he was determined to create a Bitcoin reserve.
This vision is in line with the steps of countries around the world that have created Bitcoin reserves. Mentzen aims for Bitcoin to be considered as a strategic asset and for Poland to be one of the leading countries in digital assets. Mentzen, who stands out with his crypto-friendly policies ahead of the elections to be held in May 2025, aims to gain the support of libertarian and right-wing voters with this approach.
