Post-Trump Warning: Crypto’s Window of Opportunity May Narrow

Co-founder Danny Ryan said crypto regulation has advanced under the current administration, but deep family ties to crypto could trigger a strong political backlash in the future.

Assessing the U.S. political climate, Danny Ryan highlighted a dual reality for the crypto sector, meaningful progress alongside rising risk. While regulatory steps have been taken, he noted that the Trump family’s involvement in crypto is increasing political tension in Washington.

Ryan warned that a change in administration could bring a sharp policy reversal, especially if crypto becomes associated with specific individuals or groups. Such framing, he said, could hinder the sector’s long-term development.

He argued that the priority should be embedding crypto into core financial infrastructure. This would shift future debates away from whether crypto should exist toward how it should be regulated and used responsibly.

According to Ryan, tying crypto’s future to a single political figure is a strategic mistake. Sustainable success depends on long-term institutional adoption rather than temporary political support.
