US-based social media platform Reddit has started offering Polygon-based 'Collection Avatars' as an Airdrop as a first step towards using blockchain technology.
Last week, Reddit asked some users to choose avatars from four collections called "The Singularity," "Aww Friends," "Drip Squad" and "Meme Team" based on their participation on the website.
Reddit did not refer to these avatars as NFTs in its communication with users. However, the company has previously stated that blockchain technology remains part of its long-term plans. In the statement from Reddit on the subject, the following statement took place:
“We see blockchain as one way to bring more empowerment and independence to communities on Reddit.”
