Russia has postponed the digital ruble tests scheduled for April 1 as it awaits the regulatory framework to be adopted before the pilot, Russia's state news agency TASS reported. Anatoly Aksakov, who chairs the financial markets committee of the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, said the digital ruble law could be adopted in April and come into force in May.
Olga Skorobogatova, First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia, stated at the Ural Forum Cybersecurity in Finance event held in Ekaterinburg on February 15-17, 2023 that the digital ruble project will be launched on April 1 and will cover individual transfers as well as payments in trade and service businesses.
