Sber, the largest bank in Russia, has just announced its first gold-backed digital financial asset (DFA) issuance. Solfer, a diversified metals seller and manufacturer, has become the first investor to acquire the issued assets.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sber, stated that DFAs may be an alternative to traditional investments.
In early December, Sber announced new opportunities for its blockchain platform, including compatibility with smart contracts and applications on the Ethereum network. Sber also introduced an integration with MetaMask, the cryptocurrency wallet used to interact with the Ethereum blockchain. It was announced that the integration allows users to transact with tokens and smart contracts placed on Sber’s blockchain platform.
