The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has asked the court to seal the Hinman speech documents.
The motion to seal the summary judgment document, filed by the SEC on December 22, seeks to seal various information and documents, notably the Hinman Speech documents.
The Hinman Speech documents refer to a speech given by William Hinman, former Director of the SEC's Division of Corporation Finance, at the Yahoo Finance All Markets Summit in June 2018, in which he stated that Ethereum is not a security. Ripple sees this transcript as vital evidence that will help them in their ongoing court proceedings with the SEC.
