SEC Temporarily Halts Approval of Mixed Crypto Fund's Spot ETF Conversion

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) granted accelerated approval for a mixed crypto fund containing nine altcoins to convert into a spot ETF but quickly suspended the decision for further review.

On Tuesday, the SEC's Division of Trading and Markets initially approved the ETF conversion, but Assistant Secretary Sherry R. Haywood swiftly announced the suspension, stating that the decision would undergo further examination according to the Commission's internal procedures.

Analysts suggest the SEC's recent practice of rapid approvals followed by suspensions might reflect regulatory caution and ongoing policy considerations. A similar incident recently occurred with another fund's ETF conversion. The fund includes Bitcoin along with Ethereum, Ripple, Solana, Cardano, Polkadot, Avalanche, Litecoin, and Chainlink.
