SEC Warns of Deadline for Ethereum ETF Applications

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has given companies wishing to file spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications until Friday, May 31. Companies must update and submit their S-1 filings by this date.

The SEC approved the 19b-4 forms on May 23 and attention turned to the S-1 filings. S-1 approval is required for spot Ethereum ETFs to be accepted and opened for trading.

If all filings are submitted by Friday, the SEC will share its first round of comments and decide whether the filings need further revisions.

So far, BlackRock, Grayscale and VanEck have submitted updated S-1 filings. Other companies are expected to follow suit shortly.
