A new report by Standard Chartered suggests that Bitcoin, often viewed as digital gold, could actually be better considered a technology stock. The report highlights Bitcoin's stronger correlation with Nasdaq than with gold, emphasizing its behavior similar to technology stocks.
Led by Geoff Kendrick, the report acknowledges that while Bitcoin can serve as a safe haven during financial instability, in the short term, it may be more accurately assessed as a tech stock. Kendrick stated that investors might see Bitcoin as both a hedge against traditional finance and a part of their tech portfolios. Additionally, the idea of Bitcoin being included in technology stock portfolios is illustrated with the proposal of a new "Mag7B" index.
This index would replace Tesla with Bitcoin in the traditional "Mag7" index, which currently includes tech giants like Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon.
