Although Bitcoin ATMs began operating in Japan's capital Tokyo as early as 2014, there have been no active digital asset ATMs in the country since the crypto winter of 2018. Bitcoin ATMs are back in Japan after a four-year gap.
It was learned that initially, Bitcoin ATMs will be installed in Tokyo and Osaka cities of the country, and it is aimed to install a total of 50 Bitcoin ATMs across the country in the next 12 months.
From Bitcoin ATMs, users will be allowed to withdraw a maximum of 747 USD or 100,000 Japanese Yen per transaction and a maximum of 2,243 USD or 300,000 Yen per day.
Limited withdrawals are part of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance measures.
