After a weekend of extreme volatility, the crypto market shows signs of recovery; Bitcoin climbs above $114K and Ethereum gains over 8%.
Following panic-driven sell-offs triggered by renewed U.S.–China trade tensions, Bitcoin (BTC) has rebounded from under $105K to $114,738, up 3% on Monday. Ethereum (ETH) also recovered sharply, rising 8.5% to around $4,132. Data from Coinglass revealed that Friday’s crash liquidated 1.6 million traders and wiped out $19.1 billion in positions.
Presto Research analyst Rick Maeda said the crash wasn’t crypto-specific but rather a result of broader macro pressures. “Liquidity was thin over the weekend, so the sell-off snowballed into billions of dollars in forced liquidations,” Maeda explained. Kronos Research Investment Director Vincent Liu noted that liquidity is returning to the market as investors look for dip-buying opportunities. “Despite the chaos, the ‘Uptober’ momentum remains alive—buyers are bravely stepping back in,” he said. CoinW’s Strategy Director Nassar Achkar added that traders are now turning their focus to U.S. inflation data, the upcoming Fed meeting, and ETF inflows.
On-chain data indicates that large investors are accumulating Ethereum again. LVRG Research’s Nick Ruck pointed out that several altcoins are showing “oversold reversal signals.” Presto’s Maeda concluded, “The Uptober spirit may have taken a hit, but it’s far from over,” emphasizing that recovery will take time as geopolitical tensions continue to shape investor sentiment. After a weekend of extreme volatility, the crypto market shows signs of recovery; Bitcoin climbs above $114K and Ethereum gains over 8%.
