The US government has begun selling crypto assets seized from bankrupt hedge fund Alameda Research. According to on-chain data, these crypto assets, worth about $974,000, moved for the first time in almost two years. Authorities sold more than 82,000 seized ANT tokens, with transactions conducted through AragonDAO's governance token ANT. The Aragon Association plans to burn the ANT tokens after the redemption process, while users can exchange them for ETH until November 2, 2024.
The sale was initiated through a wallet belonging to the US government, an address starting with 0xb0692, and has raised approximately 209,199 ETH ($556,000) to date. While such transactions indicate a growing interest in the process of governments cashing out seized digital assets, they have had a limited impact on the market.
