Wyoming State Takes a Major Step in the Crypto Space with Its Own Stablecoin

The crypto-friendly state of Wyoming has announced plans to launch its own stablecoin. Governor Mark Gordon emphasized that this move demonstrates the state’s focus on fostering innovation and its ability to act swiftly.

The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has approved the issuance of the "Wyoming Stable Token" (WYST), and testing is expected to begin in the coming weeks. The token will be redeemable for 1 USD and will be backed solely by cash and U.S. Treasury bonds.

Wyoming is known for its pro-crypto laws, including those that grant legal status to decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) and allow insurance companies to invest in cryptocurrencies. Governor Gordon highlighted the importance of supporting innovation while ensuring a transparent and robust regulatory framework.
