Metaplanet Raises Bitcoin Target to 210,000 BTC as Accumulation Continues

Metaplanet purchased an additional 2,823 Bitcoin (BTC) in the second quarter as part of its long term treasury strategy. The company spent approximately 35.9 billion Japanese yen, equivalent to 222 million dollars, on these acquisitions. The average purchase price for the quarter was 78,608 dollars per BTC, while the average cost basis across its entire Bitcoin portfolio stands at 94,792 dollars.

Expanding its Bitcoin strategy Although the pace of purchases slowed compared to the previous quarter, Metaplanet maintained its aggressive long term accumulation plan. The company aims to hold 100,000 BTC by the end of 2026 and expand that figure to 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027. It also generated 10.95 million dollars in revenue during the second quarter through its Bitcoin options strategy.

Despite Bitcoin falling more than 20% during the quarter, Metaplanet treated the decline as an accumulation opportunity. The company also acquired brokerage firm Siiibo Securities to expand its Bitcoin focused financial services in Japan. Following these strategic developments, Metaplanet's shares rose approximately 3.5%.
