MicroStrategy Pauses Bitcoin Purchases as Cash Reserves Reach $3.75 Billion

MicroStrategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, temporarily paused its aggressive accumulation strategy this week. While the company generated hundreds of millions of dollars through share sales between July 20 and July 26, it chose not to deploy the proceeds into additional Bitcoin purchases. The move has sparked speculation that the company may be preparing for a larger acquisition or waiting for a more attractive market entry point.

According to the latest disclosure, MicroStrategy raised $544.5 million in net proceeds by selling 5.43 million MSTR shares. During the same period, the company repurchased 288,930 preferred shares for approximately $25 million but made no Bitcoin purchases. As a result, its Bitcoin holdings remained unchanged at 843,775 BTC, while its cash reserves increased to $3.75 billion.

MicroStrategy's average acquisition cost for its Bitcoin holdings stands at $75,476 per BTC, with a total investment value of $63.69 billion. The decision to build a larger cash position is being viewed as a strategy to prepare for a potential market pullback or to preserve capital for a significantly larger Bitcoin purchase in the future. Investors are now closely watching when and at what price the company will resume its accumulation strategy.
