Solo Bitcoin Miner Wins $200,000 Block Reward With Just a $75 Move

In a rare turn of events in the crypto market, the miner used only 1 petahash per second (PH/s) of rented hash power to validate block 938,092. In return, the miner received the entire 3.125 BTC block reward. At current prices, the payout exceeds $200,000.

On-chain data shows the miner spent roughly 119,000 satoshis, or about $75, to rent the computing power and executed the attempt through CKPool. This setup allows individual miners to leverage pool infrastructure while still competing independently for a full block reward. The result was an extraordinary return of nearly 2,600 times the initial cost.

Bitcoin blocks are produced approximately every 10 minutes, with miners racing to solve complex cryptographic problems. The network’s mining difficulty recently climbed to 144.4 trillion, meaning an immense number of hash attempts are required to find a valid block. Despite rising difficulty, 21 individual miners have collectively earned 66 BTC over the past year, highlighting that while rare, solo mining windfalls are still possible.
