Tether Introduces a U.S.-Specific Regulated Stablecoin

USA₮ was developed under the United States’ new stablecoin framework and structured to be issued under a licensed banking model. This design aims to ensure direct compatibility with the U.S. financial system and a high level of regulatory compliance.

The issuance of USA₮ is handled by Anchorage Digital Bank, while reserve custody is provided by Cantor Fitzgerald. This structure sets USA₮ apart from traditional stablecoin models by embedding federal oversight at its core.

According to Tether’s leadership, USA₮ is positioned separately from the globally used USD₮ and focuses solely on U.S. institutional and payment needs. CEO Paolo Ardoino described the token as a “made in America digital dollar,” while Tether USA₮ CEO Bo Hines emphasized the goal of reinforcing U.S. leadership in dollar-based financial innovation.
