Buterin shared the experimental anonymous bulletin board demo through his GitHub account. Built on the privacy-focused Aztec layer-2 network, the system allows users to deposit Ethereum (ETH) and publish messages without revealing their identities. The protocol also ensures there is no onchain link between deposits and posted messages, providing a high level of privacy.
While preserving anonymity, the project also introduces community moderation through artificial intelligence. A local large language model (LLM) reads onchain policy rules and automatically flags content that violates them, aiming to balance user privacy with responsible content moderation.
Buterin also highlighted that the Aztec network has reached Stage 2 decentralization, the highest level in the layer-2 maturity framework. Posting limits are determined by the amount of ETH deposited, and although Buterin described the project as an unfinished experiment, its security properties have already been mathematically verified through dozens of theorems using the Lean 4 language. The prototype demonstrates how privacy and decentralized moderation could coexist in future blockchain applications.
