Blue Origin, founded by Jeff Bezos, will now accept cryptocurrency and stablecoin payments for space travel.
Blue Origin has partnered with payment technology giant Shift4 Payments to allow cryptocurrency payments for New Shepard rocket flights. Popular assets like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Tether (USDT), and USD Coin (USDC) are now accepted for purchasing tickets.
The new system enables customers to connect digital wallets like Coinbase and MetaMask directly, making instant, secure, and seamless payments possible. This allows crypto holders worldwide to easily purchase this premium experience. Shift4 CEO Taylor Lauber called the move an innovation that takes commerce “beyond Earth.”
To date, Blue Origin has taken more than 75 people beyond the Kármán Line. With Shift4’s integration, payments will be processed instantly 24/7 and settled in U.S. dollars. Alex Wilson, Head of Crypto at Shift4, highlighted that cryptocurrencies have grown into a $4 trillion asset class and are increasingly favored for luxury purchases.
