Ahead of New York City’s first-ever crypto summit on May 20, Mayor Eric Adams reaffirmed his commitment to establishing the city as a global hub for crypto and blockchain innovation.
Speaking at a press briefing at Gracie Mansion, Adams emphasized the long-term societal benefits of these technologies, especially for underserved communities lacking access to traditional financial systems.
New York’s Chief Technology Officer Matt Fraser echoed this vision, stating that blockchain’s potential extends far beyond finance — offering democratic access to vital records like birth and death certificates. With the upcoming summit, the city aims to foster idea exchange and accelerate the growth of its crypto sector. Calling on tech companies to invest, Adams declared, “New York is ready for you.” As he prepares to run as an independent in the 2025 mayoral race, Adams continues to position himself as a strong supporter of crypto innovation.
