Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, said that traditional financial firms are starting to see Bitcoin as a new investment asset, but regulatory hurdles in the US are slowing down this process. Lutnick emphasized that banks want to add Bitcoin to their portfolios, but the fact that regulators require banks holding these assets to hold the same amount of collateral is a major obstacle.
Lutnick also said that if the regulatory environment improves, financial companies will quickly turn to Bitcoin, and his own firms are planning to step into this field and launch a $2 billion loan program to provide Bitcoin financing. He added that Cantor Fitzgerald does US Treasury trading with Tether.
