The US government today transferred 3,375 Ethereum (ETH) worth $11.75 million to an unknown wallet, according to data platform data. The Ethereum reportedly came from funds seized by HashFlare ponzi scheme executives Ivan Turogin and Sergei Potapenko, who were arrested in Estonia in November 2022.
The US government's wallet had previously transferred 11.84 Bitcoin from funds seized from the same individuals to another address. It also sent about $240 million worth of Bitcoins to the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the US. It was stated that these Bitcoins were funds seized from Silk Road. While these transfers created selling pressure in cryptocurrency markets, it is wondered whether a similar situation will occur for Ethereum.
